Even in such a snow starved winter like last season, the days when quality snow was found in the Eastern Sierra were some of the most memorable of the year. There’s a reason these mountains are known as the “Range of Light”. Like most special places skiers call home, once the Sierra gets a hold of your soul, there’s no turning back. This is especially true in the Eastern Sierra where desert gradually gives way to golden granite and some of the most beautiful, inspiring peaks in the world. Thankfully, this season the “Eastside” has already seen enough of the white stuff to warrant a few trips into the backcountry. We’re still far from game-on, but with a few powder days under our belts, this season is already looking a lot brighter than last.
