RESORT DESCRIPTION:
STEAMBOAT-SKI TOWN, U.S.A. is an authentic Western town with a strong skiing heritage. The combination of Champagne Powder snow, industry leading family programs, legendary trees, off-mountain activities, lodging options and historic town, make Steamboat one of the premier winter destinations. The town, known for producing more Winter Olympians than any other in the country, celebrates winter adventure on a mountain sprawling with nearly 3,000 acres of terrain and 3,668 vertical feet. In addition, North America’s No. 1 Family Resort is leading the way in environmental sustainability with its award-winning Zero Waste Initiative.

• 12/31, 2/14, 3/17: Torchlight Parades & Fireworks

TERRAIN BREAKDOWN:

Located within the Park Range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Steamboat encompasses 165 trails (14 percent easier; 42 percent more difficult; 44 percent most difficult), 3,668 vertical and 2,965 acres with six peaks filled with groomed cruisers, bumps, steeps, meadows, legendary trees and four terrain parks. Remember, Champagne Powder snow was coined here!

POWDER PERSPECTIVE:

With its laid-back town and well-manicured slopes, Steamboat is certainly a great place to take the family. But its upper mountain–accessed by Storm Peak and Sundown Express, both high-speed quads–should be considered among the top destinations for the diehard powder skier. The tree skiing off of these two lifts is the best in North America, having thousands of feet of vertical through perfectly spaced old-growth aspens and pines.
