From wide-open groomers to the famous terrain of the Extreme Limits, Crested Butte has it all. The legendary Extreme Limits covers 448 acres of ungroomed, avalanche-controlled slopes and includes open bowls, gladed powder stashes and steep chutes. With three parks and a superpipe, the freestyle options are also endless.
A true Colorado ski town if there ever was one, Crested Butte is a small, former Victorian mining town located at the end of Highway 135. The skiing off the North Face Lift is some of the steepest and most technical anywhere in the world. March and April are the best times to visit, after the late-winter storms have covered the Butte’s craggy terrain. If you’re looking to stay somewhere more quaint and in the historic town, check out the Elk Mountain Lodge, a B&B within stumbling distance to the town’s best bars and restaurants: elkmountainlodge.com.
