Whether you’re a backcountry skier, park rat, or prefer ripping groomers, Park City has something to offer you. From their world-class terrain parks, to Jupiter Peak and Pinecone Ridge, PC truly is a one size fits all resort. In the past, long lines and crowding were expected on any given weekend, but with the addition of a new high-speed six pack servicing the base area, that is sure to be a thing of the past.
If you wake up to new snowfall, only one thing should be on your mind: McConkey’s. Shake the O’Shucks-induced hangover, get up and rip a few runs while ski patrol opens Jupiter Bowl. It’s often a mad dash of locals and gaper’s following the locals once the rope drops, but worry not. The short hike up to Scotts Bowl deters most and will leave you fresh turns all day, especially if you work towards Pinecone Ridge.
If the terrain parks bring you to PC, expect some changes for the 2008-09 season. For starters, day park crew has been doubled to maintain park conditions throughout the day. Thirty new features are being added, bringing the rail and box count to a staggering 75. Jonesy’s Park will be extended the entire length of the run and will now be the medium-size park. This will return King’s Crown to its former Superpark status. Not up for hitting 65-foot tables and step down’s? Pick N’ Shovel is going to boast new beginner features, including more jumps and fun-boxes for those learning how to get all flippy and spinny.
Whats New:
A high-speed six pack spinning from the base area.
Inside Line:
When lunch time rolls around, skip heading into the lodges for overpriced food and long lines. Instead, head to Main Street via one of the shuttles from the base area, which arrive every five minutes. After a quick bite at Davanza’s Pizza or Wasatch Brew Pub, jump on the town lift to get right back to the slopes.
