Enjoyable terrain, great separation of beginner, intermediate, and advanced runs, and free catskiing are just some of the things Copper has going for it. When they’re calling for snow, make sure to get up early to avoid the corn lot. Hop on the bus to East Village and take the Bee up, which is never crowded. From there take Storm King to the top. If Spalding is open, hit the chutes on the skier’s left for steeps. If closed, Upper Enchanted is the place to be. The run out of Enchanted takes you directly to R-lift, which can quickly put you to Mountain Chief and Copper Bowl. Late to fill in, Copper Bowl isn’t in its prime until the spring. Hop off Mountain Chief and veer left toward the ridge. Traverse as far as possible and hike well past the main bowl to the chutes. On your way back to Mountain Chief, check to see if the cat is running. If so, hop in line. At the drop off point, hoof it 20 minutes to the patrol shack. The Taco can be fun, but if you’re going to hike this far, you may as well get to Freemont Glades.

What’s New: With various live music and events going on during the winter, Copper nightlife has become something to check out. Inside Line: Inside Line: Imperial Garden offers a killer lunch buffet. Located in Center Village right next to the skating rink.
