Trail Map

One of the oldest ski areas in Colorado, A-Basin has it’s own unique vibe that sets it apart from the other Summit County mega-resorts. Despite increasing its terrain by 80 percent with the addition of the Zuma lift, “the basin”, still manages a low-profile, relaxed atmosphere. A quick ride up the Lenawee will give you access to Zuma bowl. To the skier’s right are a variety of chutes—check out Durrance and Schauffler. Bring your beacon and get quick Backcountry access from the Mountain Goat Traverse. A 20-minute hike on the ridge will bring you to some killer stashes that remain untouched for days. Pallavincini still offers some of the best terrain at A-Basin, but for something different, a quick traverse to the left will bring you to South-Chute and Nose, where there’s usually good snow well past a storm.

What’s New: Despite some public griping, Montezuma offers some of the best lift-accessed terrain in Summit County. Once Zuma fills in, you can bet on some great skiing.

Inside Line: A-basin offers beacon practice area at the bottom of the East Wall. Speaking of East Wall, there is no better place for Spring Skiing in Colorado.
