| LAST DAY TO VOTE IN THE 2013 POWDER AWARDS PRESENTED BY ICELANDIC GLACIAL Visit PowderAwards.com or Vote Via Twitter or Instagram Using #PowderAwardsVote SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (January 2, 2013) – Voting for the 13th annual Powder Awards presented by Icelandic Glacial concludes Jan. 2, 2013. The top skiers in the world, as voted by the fans, will be announced live from the opening night of the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, on January 17, 2013, with a live webcast at PowderAwards.com.
This year offers three simple ways to vote. Visit PowderAwards.com, click on “VOTE” and enter the names of your top 10 male and top five female skiers. Or, submit a vote via Twitter or Instagram by naming or picturing the athlete you’re voting for and including the hashtag #PowderAwardsVote. With the addition of a social media component, this year’s standings have the potential to be dramatically shifted. Last year, Tom Wallisch @TWallisch claimed his second consecutive Reader Poll No. 1. With more than 22,000 Twitter followers, Wallisch could easily rally his troops again this year. Sean Pettit @seanpettit, Sage Cattabriga-Alosa @sageAdventure and Seth Morrison @sethmorrison1, who finished in second, third and fourth, respectively on last year’s Poll also have significant Twitter followings, but Bobby Brown @Bobby_Brown1, Erik Roner @Erikroner and Tanner Hall @TannerHall, who also finished in the Top 10 last year, each have five digit Twitter followings that could garner enough support to launch them up in the ranks if utilized properly. In the women’s race, Ingrid Backstrom @ingridbackstrom continued her six-year winning streak in 2012. She has a solid Twitter following with more than 8,000 fans to call upon. Kaya Turski @kayaturski, Grete Eliassen @GRETEGIRL and Rachael Burks @rachaelburks, who rounded out the top women in 2012, are also popular in the Tweetosphere. Kicking off the opening night of the Sundance Film Festival, the biggest night in skiing will honor the world’s best skiers, filmmakers, and photographers from with a celebration extraordinaire at Park City Live on Jan. 17.
