Out and about at Solitude with Lee Cohen's crew
Wednesday, Feb. 9: Day 2 of the Ski Salt Lake Shootout with Sandy, Utah-based photographer Lee Cohen, skiers Carston Oliver and Pip Hunt, and snowboarder Tony Pavlantos, at Solitude, Utah. Photos by Tim Mutrie (and video here).
Day 2 of the Ski Salt Lake Shootout: Photographer Lee Cohen's team -- Pip Hunt, Tony Pavlantos, Carston Oliver and Cohen, from left -- heads out Solitude's Highway to Heaven traverse for their opening move this morning, Feb. 9.
Team Cohen soon lucks into a perfectly crafted, large kicker with only four tracks in the landing zone since the Monday-overnight dump. A vigorous session commences, and Pavlantos, here, abides. (Note: Another nice kicker, down below by the trees, was respectfully left un-sessioned by Team Cohen.)
Some hikers from the Alta side of Twin Lakes Pass stopped for a bit to watch the BC kicker session before heading further out.
Carston Oliver sent a few 7's way, way down the hill.
And Lee Cohen is stoked, and it's not even 10 a.m.
Just past the zone of the gift-horse kicker, Pip and crew spent time working wind-buffed spines and ribs (= good times).

Wolverine, in the background, frames another Cohen shot with Oliver. Overall, a good day in the Solitude/Cottonwood backcountry.
