Kevin Brower, one of the skiers on photographer Steve Lloyd's crew in the 2011 Ski Salt Lake Shootout, gets into 16 inches of fresh snow Tuesday morning, Feb. 8, at Snowbird.
What you don't see from most first-rate ski photographs is all the standing around and snacking that goes on... when Eric Balken isn't slarving toward Lloyd's trap focus.

Team Lloyd (Jake Lawlor, Brower, Balken, Lloyd and Jim Harris) eyeballing more promising terrain (ie. fewer passersby, more pow) after some trials and errors in the Cirque this morning.
No more standing around.
After finding a suitable zone with nobody around, the crew sessions this rock outcropping (Lawlor, here) and Lloyd is finally pleased with some of the results.
Balken works for the Glen Canyon Institute... when not working for the camera.
