Photographer Profile
Blake Jorgenson
Canadian photographer Blake Jorgenson grew up in Hamilton and Toronto, Ontario. At
age 17 he headed west in search of the ultimate ski-town adventure and ended up in
Whistler, B.C., where he has lived since 1993. Inspired to pick up a camera and
document the hardcore riders and the landscape around his adopted hometown, Jorgenson
would eventually gain worldwide attention for his backcountry skiing and mountain
biking images. He currently travels the globe on editorial and commercial assignments,
though he remains rooted in Whistler. In 2008 Jorgenson opened the Blake Jorgenson
Gallery, a modern-contemporary space on the main floor of the Westin Resort in Whistler
Village, which serves as a showcase for his own work and that of other artists, as well
as a venue for industry parties and special exhibitions and a hub for the local outdoor
adventure and arts communities.
