Truckee/Lake Tahoe, CA - Northstar-at-Tahoe will relocate its superpipe and increase it in length by 20 percent. The new superpipe will be 400 feet long and located on Lower Drop Off. The new location will allow views of the action from the deck of Northstar's mid-mountain lodge. The resort also plans to add an additional jib park to The Straits, a run just above Drop Off. The superpipe and terrain park will now be accessible via the Vista high-speed quad chair.
The relocated superpipe will have increased snowmaking and a new sound
system for music. With the addition of two new snowguns and the
re-positioning of two others, Northstar plans to have its superpipe and
halfpipe open by Christmas (temperatures permitting).
Northstar-at-Tahoe is highly noted among Tahoe resorts for its freestyle terrain parks, halfpipe, superpipe, and Paw Parks, which are pint-sized freestyle terrain features just for kids. Northstar has also recently opened a snowskate park, with features including an assortment of slides and jibs like picnic tables, benches and rails.
