BIG SKY, Mont. - Horizon Air announced that it will offer new non-stop jet service between Los Angeles (LAX) and Bozeman (BZN) on Saturdays from Dec. 21, 2002 through March 22, 2003. The new flight is a cooperative effort between Horizon Air and several lodging businesses in the Big Sky community aimed at increasing tourism in the Gallatin Valley.
This is the only direct flight from California into Montana by any carrier. Prior to this announcement all California ski guests connected through Horizon's Seattle hub, Delta Airline's Salt Lake City hub and United Airline's Denver hub. Big Sky Resort guests flying from the east could connect to Bozeman through Northwest Airline's Minneapolis hub.
"We are delighted by this additional air service from one of the strongest emerging markets Big Sky has seen over the last 5 years," said Meg O'Leary, director of sales and marketing. "Airlines recognize that Big Sky is a viable market that fills flights and this is another example where we know we will succeed, the more seats on jets, the more seats in chairlifts."
The service will be operated with new 70-seat CRJ-700 regional jets and will depart Los Angeles at 1:55 p.m. and arrive in Bozeman at 5:35 p.m. with outbound service departing Bozeman at 6:15 p.m. and arrive in Los Angeles at 7:53 p.m. Flight time each way will be about two hours and 30 minutes.
The schedule started much the same way the daily flights from Seattle were introduced nine years ago. Today, Horizon Air flies four daily flights into Bozeman from Seattle with three daily flights in the winter.
To book these new tickets, guests may call Big Sky Central Reservations at 1-800-548-4486 and be connected to the air department. Guests may also book reservations at www.bigskyresort.com.
