Snowbird, Utah - More than 24 inches of snow has fallen at the base of
Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort in the last two days and forecasters are
calling for additional accumulations throughout the next 24 hours.
Snowbird averages 500 inches of annual snowfall. The resort is reporting a
mid-mountain base of 94 inches and a year-to-date snowfall of 292 inches
following the driest January on record.
"Sooner or later the powder comes to Little Cottonwood Canyon and today was
one of those days," said Dave Fields, Snowbird's Director of Public
Relations. "Many of Salt Lake's skiers and riders have more time on the golf
course than the ski hill this year but two-foot storms quickly change that."
