Join Rendezvous Ski and Snowboard Tours for a
three-day, hands-on Backcountry Clinic at one of their yurts located at 8,000 feet on the western slope of the Teton Range near Jackson, Wyoming. Scheduled for December and early January, each clinic will focus on the multiple facets of backcountry winter travel in avalanche terrain: routefinding, map reading, weather
recording, snow science, terrain analysis and
self-rescue. Participants will have the opportunity
to practice using transceivers and finding multiple
burials, dig snow pits and practice the various tests
performed on the snowpack to assess stability, and
learn to read maps and the terrain to determine safe travel routes in avalanche terrain.
Cost of the clinic is $225 and includes two nights
lodging in a yurt, meals, use of an avlanache
transceiver, climbing skins, shovel, sleeping bag and three full days of guiding and instruction in the
Teton backcountry. Participants should be in good
physical condition and have backcountry skis or a split snowboard (or rent locally). No previous avalanche or backcountry skills necessary to participate. Call 877.SKI.HUTS for more information or log onto www.skithetetons.com.
