Two weeks in Japan
Words and photos by Matt Hansen
Over the last two weeks, Powder Senior Editor Matt Hansen traveled through Japan with the Icelantic AT Boards crew. The trip took the four skiers from the streets and subways of Tokyo—the Shibuya Crossing, the busiest intersection in the world—to the glorious mountains of Hakuba, in the Japanese Alps, and Niseko, on the North Island.
Though skiing was the ultimate goal, the trip afforded the foursome a fresh perspective on a culture and population rich in history, sophistication, and eclectic foods. If you’re planning an exotic ski trip anytime soon, save it up for Japan.
