Red Bull Playstreets

February 23rd in Austria. And on the Internet.

Anyone taking a look at the Builder’s Blog on www.redbullplaystreets.com will be able to tell that the centre of the Austrian ski resort of Bad Gastein is being marked with some unusual and impressive wooden building works. Make no doubt about it – Red Bull PlayStreets 2013 is coming a lot closer, much to the delight of Freestyle Skiing fans. Some 20 top class international competitors from all corners of the globe will descend on the picturesque resort close to Salzburg and flash their tricks in front of thousands of
spectators for its fifth In-City Slopestyle Contest on February 23rd.

Top calibre. The 2013 Red Bull PlayStreets is not messing around – those invited for an elegant run with two skis over roofs and streets on the impressive course include: Nick Goepper (US, Gold Medal Winner X-Games, Slopestyle, Aspen 2013), defending champion Elias Ambühl (CH, 3rd place X- Games, Big Air, Aspen 2013), Charles Gagnier (CAN, 2007 Winner), Bobby Brown (US, multiple X- Games Champion), PK Hunder (NOR), Paddy Graham (UK), Bene Mayr (GER) und Markus Eder (ITA, Freeride World Tour Winner, Courmayeur 2013). To add to that mix, five Austrian heroes, including Tobi Tritscher, a Styrian who has enjoyed years of success, as well as Fabio Studer from Vorarlberg (2nd place on Freeride World Tour, Chamonix 2013) will ensure that the atmosphere is pumping in Bad Gastein on 23 February.

The course. The Red Bull PlayStreets 2013 competitors certainly can’t be faint hearted. They will start on a ramp on a roof between the Salzburgerhof and Villa Orania. Four huge obstacles will need to be conquered in perfect style above the heads of thousands of spectators: Marker Corner, Völkl Kicker, Suzuki Road Gap and finally the Roof Box on the roof of the Jägerhäusl restaurant close to the finish. After some training, qualifying gets going at 4 p.m. on 23 February. A three-person jury will decide on the top eight freestyle skiers of the day who will contest the grand final at 8 p.m.

Overall winner. The winner of Red Bull PlayStreets will take a 250cc Suzuki RMZ Motocross as well as the honour of getting their own star on the Walk of Fame in Bad Gastein. It is not only the skiers who stand a chance of winning though: anyone answering a few questions and giving some tips under the Play & Win section on www.redbullplaystreets.com might be richly rewarded! The first prize is a pair of Völkl Kink skis with Marker Jester bindings. All those who invite their Facebook friends to take part will be put into the hat for a range of daily prizes – hoodies, belts, Red Bull Mobile goodies, Red Bulletin subscriptions and much more!

Everyone can watch it live. The decks and boxes of the DJ outfit ‘Die Au’ (Average & Url) are ready. A real buzz is guaranteed. Freestyle Skiing fans can make sure they do not miss a single second of the contest via the live stream on www.redbullplaystreets.com . ServusTV will also show the highlights on the evening of the race day at 10:30 p.m.
