Baldface Lodge

Varied terrain, unbeatable snow quality, and personable staff are transforming Baldface into the haven for powder enthusiasts from all walks of life. With a total of 36,000 acres, Baldface is the largest snowcat skiing operation in the world.

Guests are flown from Nelson into the backcountry in an A-Star helicopter – a scenic, unforgettable five-minute flight. After a good night’s rest and a hearty breakfast, it’s time to accumulate 12,000 to 18,000 vertical on favorites such as “Cheeky Monkey”, “Moss Garden”, and “Air Supply”. First descents will be named over cold après-powder pints in the brand new timber frame lounge.

The on-mountain village features a bar and lounge, gourmet meals, two hot tubs, massage therapy, and lodging for staff and guests. The charming town of Nelson, full of restaurants, shops, and bars, will enhance the Baldface vacation.

We encourage powderhounds to arrive a few days early and warm up their legs at Whitewater or Red Mountain in Rossland. Baldface guests receive discounts at local hotels and B&B’s. Two-day packages start at $760 USD with all accommodation, meals, safety equipment, guides, taxes, and helicopter fees included.

Baldface is a 3-hour drive north of Spokane, Washington in the heart of the West Kootenay region of British Columbia. In other words, Powder Country. This area averages more than 500 inches of snow each winter. Snowboard superstars Craig Kelly and Mark Fawcett are on the guiding team under the direction of legendary guide John Buffery, who will also offer Avalanche Safety Knowledge (ASK) courses at Baldface.
