Operation Overview

Chugach Powder Guides is without a doubt Alaska's most established and respected heli ski outfit. With powder opportunities in Girdwood, Seward and the Tordrillo Mountains, CPG has a heli ski option available for any level of enthusiast ranging from the true heli junkie to the first time heli skier. CPG's Girdwood operation is famous for offering the trifecta of ski options including heli, snowcat, and resort skiing at Alyeska Resort, assuring that you will be skiing powder when it's storming rather than pulling your hair out, playing Yahtzee or trying to drink it blue.

Terrain Overview

CPG has 750,000 acres of dedicated heli-ski terrain and 2,500 acres of snowcat ski terrain in the Western Chugach Mountains near Girdwood. This is a classic mix of high alpine powder rollers and challenging steeps. The gladed snowcat area offers some of the only high quality tree skiing in Alaska.

Season Highlights

  • Long March and April days provide lots of opportunities to get your powder turns.
  • Early season in February is the hidden secret offering some of the best quality powder.
  • Skiing the amazing fjords of Seward begins in the end of February and runs through the third week of March.
  • CPG's world famous "Kings and Corn" program offers you a summer ski fix with June heli skiing in the Tordrillo Mountains combined with heli fishing for monster king salmon, all based from the original luxury location of Winterlake Lodge.
