Junk In The Trunk: Salomon XA Pro 3D Mid LTR GTX
Forgive the name, these Gore-Tex shoes are great for taking puppies on walks
Salomon XA Pro 3D Mid LTR GTX
The Salomon XA Pro 3D Mid LTR GTX has the worst name of all time, though it’s not exactly unexpected from the Annecy, France-based company who introduced skiers to the term monocoque. But I’m willing to look past it because of how well this shoe works. If you live in or near the mountains and are looking for some tough trail running kicks that also keep you dry, these shoes do not disappoint. With Gore-Tex construction and a surprisingly stiff, rugged sole, these shoes have been on my feet every day for the last two months in Jackson Hole. They have become especially handy for running on frozen trails through the woods at the base of Snow King, where ice, mud, and moose are never out of the question. These shoes stay dry even when I land in slush puddles, and they provide great ankle and heel support while jogging across slick trails or kicking frozen dirt. But they are also comfy as an après shoe and the Quicklace means their easy-on/easy-off at the airport or for taking the pup out for a quick Frisbee toss. In all black, they will definitely be on my feet this winter when I hit the road, just don’t ask me to remember their name.
