Carlson, an X Games Slope style silver medalist, flew down from Oregon, fresh off graduation from Tigard High School, where he threw a post-ceremony party centered around a ping-pong tourney. While coming up with fraudulent running poses and maintaining challenging arm positions in the Oakley photo lab, Carlson admitted modeling isn't his favorite part of the job, but, he said, "This one's mellow. I get to surf. When I go home I have to surf with [Eric] Pollard so it'll be good to get out there. I just want to hang out on the beach and get a tan." But Carlson's thoughts never stray too far from the snow, as he said he couldn't wait to get back to Mount Hood on Friday. "There's tons of snow. It's going to be real good when I get back. I'm going to learn a ton of tricks this summer."<p><br><italic> Crested Butte ski mountaineer Pete Sowar sent these shots from the North Face of North Maroon peak.
