Field Productions Launches New Web Series
The Norwegian ski film company shows a preview of their two-year film project
Following the success of 2011’s release, Being There, producer and cinematographer Filip Christensen needed a break from theannual ski film mold. Christensen, 24, has been making films since he was 15 under the banner of Field Productions.
“We felt it was time for a new pattern. Releasing one film per year makes it difficult to reach our goals,” says Christensen. “Two years gives us the opportunity to develop ourselves as filmmakers. It feels right, and hopefully it will result in better films from Field Productions.”
FullCircle Project: Peru Episode Three
Muyu Juntas’qa is the Quechuan word for “Full Circle.” Quechua is the language of the people of Amaru and a language that has been handed down from the time of the Inca. We wrap up our time in Peru with the adobe brick making process and then say goodbye to our new friends. From there, we head to Chile in search of that elusive Andean powder and hit it just right with a storm that dumps a meter of pow onto the crew. Big thanks to Pacha Mama.
Closed-Out and Down: Rails 2 Riches 2012
L.J. Strenio goes back east, wins big
Killington’s Rails 2 Riches is one of the few remaining significant park events on the East Coast. And thanks to its sizable cash purse, it’s the only open event in the East where you’ll find skiers that have flown in from the West. The East Coast homecoming ended up paying off for almost everyone visiting from Salt Lake City. Steve Stepp, Giray Didali, and LJ Strenio, all native East Coasters chasing the dream in the City of the Saints, found themselves on the receiving end of varying amounts of hundred dollar bills after being on the producing end of a heavy barrage of tricks.

Tell A Friend Tour
A seven-stop East Coast tour filled with skiing, pizza, and prizes
After sustaining a season-ending knee injury in a tragic hopping-over-a-fence accident last year, Andy Parry is back. But you already knew that. In December, the wizard trick master is paying tribute to his East Coast roots by launching the Tell A Friend Tour, a grassroots, seven-stop, camp-vibe journey. Skiers are welcome to meet up with Parry and Traveling Circus veterans Ian Compton, Jack Borland, and Ross Imburgia for shred sessions at local resorts, where they’ll ski for prizes and learn tricks. The event is followed by pizza and a raffle giveaway at a local shop. Powder caught up with Parry about his new tour and eating chicken wings.

S.A.F.E.A.S. (Skiers Advocating and Fostering Education for Avalanche and Snow Safety)
On December 8, Squaw Valley skiers will host a women’s-only avalanche clinic. We caught up with professional skier Elyse Saugstad to get the low-down on the event.
What is the event all about?
The event is an intro to avalanche safety with classroom and on-snow training. It also includes morning yoga, a wine social the night before, and an après party with a raffle.
MSP’s “Counting up to 20″ Episode 16
Hugo Harrisson in 2008's Claim
“That’s right… I’m back.” It was a big claim from an otherwise soft-spoken guy, but that statement accurately summed up Hugo Harrisson’s return to action in Claim back in 2008. This segment is a proper tutorial in stomping huge airs from the perennial MSP star and three-time IFSA world champ.

FullCircle Project: Peru Episode Two
Episode two of their skiing and community service mission
For the second episode of the 2012 FullCircle Project in Amaru, Peru, we continue our work building a recycling center. We cut down Eucalyptus trees for the roof of the center, and worked as a team to carry them up the hill. Our local friend and project co-worker, Eustachio Cruz, offered a blessing for the FullCircle crew on a mountain peak above town.
Check back next week for our third and final episode of the 2012 project in which we say goodbye to our friends in Amaru and head south to Chile in search of snow…
A Skier’s Journey Episode Three: Iceland
In Iceland's rough and remote Westfjords region, Chad Sayers, Forrest Coots, and Chad Manley step back in time to revisit a way of life that lasted 1000 years.
With the guidance of local friends Siggi Jonsson and Runar Karlsson, they traverse the storied landscape via sailboat, kayak, and ski, exploring what it would have been like to survive there for so many generations. Each ski run begins and ends with seaweed underfoot, while waterfalls, lichen-clad couloirs, and stories of humans past make up the in-between.
