While navigating the intricacies of his new business--Siver Cartel--along with a burgeoning pro ski career, Mike Nick recently found time for something a bit more lasting: marriage. Nick and long-time girlfriend Val Menia recently spoke their vows in front of an enthusiastic wedding party. Now wed, the pro skier talks about life managing skiing, business, and now marriage.
How was your wedding?
It was a big party and pretty much an awesome night.
How many people came to the ceremony?
We had a hundred and sixty people there I think. It was semi outdoor semi indoor.
We were on this nice terrace and then moved the whole party indoors. It was
pretty sweet, we had some misty rain going on in the background it was quite
picturesque.
Was there anyone in the wedding party that skiers might recognize?
Jay Levinthal was one of my groomsmen and Iannick B. was there, Jeff Winterton
was one of my photographers, Matt Levinthal was a photographer and Felix Rioux ,
the guy the owns D-Structure a shop up in Montreal was there.
How did you and Valerie meet?
We actually met I think when we were twelve years old at a summer camp one time.
We went out for a day and she just wasn't cool enough at that point, so I broke
up with her. Then we went our separate ways until we were seniors in high school
and got back together for a couple of years, split for a couple of years and
then got back together again about four years ago. So we've been on and off
forever.
