Some of the classes include:

The college has teamed up with South American Snow Sessions (SASS), an established organization that has been hosting ski and snowboarding camps for young adults since 2004. SASS offers logistical know-how, years of networking with the winter sports community, and its beautiful campus near the Cerro Cathedral Snow Resort. Sierra Nevada College will operate an academic program in three sessions, each consisting of nine 1- and 3-credit courses in Fine Arts, Ski Business Management, and Outdoor Leadership on the SASS campus in Argentina, all taught by SNC faculty.

Said Sierra Nevada College President Maxson, “Once again, this puts Sierra Nevada College on the cutting edge for providing unique educational experiences for its students.”

Students who enroll in SNC courses will automatically co-enroll in the full-service SASS camp experience, which will provide them with room and board, transportation, winter sports coaching, and cultural activities in the picturesque Argentinean Andes mountains and the Bariloche area. Session dates are as follows:

Session 1: July 17-August 2, 2009
Session 2: August 1-August 15, 2009
Session 3: August 15-August 29, 2009

“The SNC-SASS program is just the latest example of the way we are working hard to make Sierra Nevada College a unique and powerful experience for the next generation of our students. Every single day, people on this campus take initiative on great ideas, and I believe that entrepreneurial spirit trickles down to our student body,” said Sierra Nevada College Provost and Executive Vice President Lynn Gillette. Tim Cohee, program chair of the Ski Business & Resort Management (SBRM) program at the college and one of the instructors who will be teaching at the camp, added, "The Introduction to Ski Business course will provide an extensive look at the industry as well a sampling of what the SBRM program at Sierra Nevada College is all about. It won't be surprising if a number of SASS attendees elect to start or continue their college education at SNC after taking a few of our excellent courses."

More details about SASS can be found at www.sasnow.com or on the SASS Patagonia Travel Courses page at http://www.sierranevada.edu/.
