FEBRUARY FRESH: Last Issue of the Year On Newsstands Now
Sprint to the gas station, or Barnes and Noble, or Safeway to pick up the last issue of POWDER Magazine for the ’07-08 season as it hits newsstands this week across North America. We suggest a cold six-pack and a warm batch of mozzarella sticks to accompany you next to a raging fire when devouring all the goods in this issue.
In one of the more provocative stories of the year, writer Dan Kostrzewski explores the state of the ski movie looking back to the years of Greg Stump up to its current state by analyzing Eric Iberg’s 2007 release, Idea. Will the poleless and rockered skills and perspectives of Eric Pollard, Pep Fujas, and Andy Mahre change the ski film formula?
Segueing from good old fashioned ski movie debate, flip a page and enter into one of the world’s most heated countries in Iran. Renowned writer James Vlahos and photographer Greg Von Doersten make an attempt at skiing Iran’s 18,605-foot Mount Damavand while traversing through Tehran and Iran’s countryside.
Also, be sure and check out this month’s Voice interview with Mr. Backward himself, Vincent Dorian, and a profile on Utah’s Billy Poole. Read our 11 steps to being a really super green skier, an exploration in Iceland, an ode Dick Barrymore’s Last of The Ski Bums, and a sober review of America’s best ski colleges.
And, of course, the last photo gallery of the season will cure all powder appetites. Enjoy the cold ones and the hot, cheesy mozz sticks with a crisp POWDER. Happy Winter!
