Folsom Custom doesn’t build skis; they shape them to the customer’s wishes. Like the Low Rider, one of 12 different core profiles from Folsom that contains a poplar and bamboo laminate. Though the Low Rider is intended for big-mountain lines and powder, Folsom lets the customer dictate overall camber profile, flex, weight and graphic. The underlying focus of Folsom is to build skis in an environmentally sustainable way. Folsom uses low volatile organic resins (VOC) and recycles old skis and flash material to use for epoxy basing. “We don’t use toxic lacquers or inks in our skis,” Grano says. “But despite the different methods of construction, we believe our skis are more durable and less toxic.” Each ski comes with over 30 graphic options.
