I’ve never been, only heard the stories of ludicrously deep snow in perfectly spaced trees with a consistently steep fall line. If I make it this year, I’m bringing the Volkl Kuro. Ridiculously fat with full rocker and a monstrous shovel, the Kuro is tailor-made for light, chest-deep snow. Volkl’s Elongated Low Profile helps the ski plane over, rather than plow through, light Niseko powder. I’d normaly opt for the 185s for maneuverability in firmer snow. But this is my dream trip, so we’ll assume it’ll be tits-deep every day. Gimme the 195s.
