Description: Völkl’s top-seller among big mountain twin tips, the Gotama enjoys go-to status in the industry, combining deep powder prowess with all-mountain utility. With Extended Low Profile (ELP) rocker design and a 106mm waist width, Völkl delivers the perfect blend of reverse camber, sidecut, and flex. ELP’s smooth, gradual bend provides tip-to-tail edge engagement for precise control and smooth handling in any conditions.

The Gotama, since its launch several years ago, has been copied ad nauseum because of its versatility in just about every condition. This ski, however, continues to evolve. In 2011, the ski has Volkl’s tip rocker (termed Elongated Low Profile) for better performance in the deep stuff and all mountain accessibility. The playful rocker shape still offers more stability on groomers.

I have skied Volkl for years. Currently on a 170 AC50s(2 years old) and 170 Mantra (4 years old). SImply love Volkl and they work fine for me for now four pair.

Want to buy a Gotama and despite the twin tip, given its low profile I am thinking I want to stay on 170. However, I am told by many to go to 178.

Still fairly athletic at 60+ years of age, 175#@5’6″. All mountain but not crazy, no jumps, love bumps (back does not anymore), came to Alta/Snowbird to ski the soft, steep and deep.

    170 or 178….comments?
