Skier’s Choice Draft Pick | Round 1, 10th Pick by Matt Hansen
You don’t need anything fatter than the Czar to enjoy even the deepest powder of the Northern Rockies. In fact, huge skis often defeat the purpose—or at least my purpose of having snow up my nose and down my collar, not swishing by below my knees. The Czar’s supple flex and bamboo laminate core (new to the 2010-11 model) provide an exceptionally comfortable turn that enables good old-fashioned face shots, but its early rise tip keeps the nose from diving and sending you over the handlebars. Even still, the Czar, with its slight camber underfoot and solid edge-to-edge contact, is an excellent all-mountain ski when the snow is soft.
