At 6 feet, 8 inches tall and having a size 14 foot, I’m the last person you’d expect to utilize “Elf Shoe Technology.” But the JJ’s are locked underfoot when the cold lows slam into the Sierra Nevada. And because the Tahoe inbounds can get tracked-out pretty quickly, it pays to have something versatile. The JJ’s tip-and-tail rocker will keep you on top in the morning and the five-point sidecut combined with camber underfoot punches through the chop all afternoon. The JJ skis a bit short for my liking in the deep stuff, but its strength lies in holding a confident turn from fresh to not-so-fresh to groomer and back again.
