Episode 4 of Whistler Blackcomb's Snowcast, presented by TELUS focuses on the GORE-TEX Deep Winter Experience (Jan 4 - 13, 2008). The ARC'TERYX Photo Showdown is the signature event. Last year's winning duo, comprised of pro photographer Paul Morrison and freeskiing legend, Mike Douglas, will return to defend their title at this year's event, which takes place on Jan. 5 at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.

MOVIE TEASER: Return of the Niña
In the winter of '98/'99, during the La Niña storm cycle, the Mt. Baker Ski Area received just less than 100 feet of snow. This was the most snow ever recorded in one year, anywhere. Seven years later, following a season of drought brought on by El Niño, the opposite storm system, La Niña returned to Mt. Baker and set a new record: the most snowfall ever recorded in one month.
A SEASON WITH SIMON: Sweden’s King of Style Contest
This year Riley Poor is following Simon Dumont around the globe documenting his every move from the dance floor to the breakfast table to the steep snowy slopes. The first episode showcases Simon and Sammy Carlson heading to Sweden for the King of Style Big Air Contest. Simon took third and Sammy took fourth, not a bad showing for traveling several thousand miles to compete in a big air contest before Thanksgiving.

FAT FLAKE FESTIVAL VIDEO: Photography Contest
The Fat Flake Festival featured a photo contest for the best ski and snowboard shots taken in Utah last winter. Adam Clark won the ski class with a shot of Ben Wheeler in the Alta Backcountry. Here's a video of the contest nominees.
